Members of the Twinning Association can be as much or as little involved as they want to be.

Through membership, a myriad of opportunities exist to meet other people at social events organised throughout the year, including annual trips and other outings.
Some members form close friendships with their hosts and make arrangements to visit each other on a regular basis. Other members have a more limited degree of involvement, taking part in annual visits only.

The Twinning Association strives to ensure that you are hosted with people of a similar age, and, if you are a smoker, to couple you with other smokers.
In terms of foreign language, it is not a requirement that you are able to speak French. Nevertheless, if you attempt to learn the basics as a minimum, the quality of social engagement between you and your host(s) will be much higher.

We are always looking for new Association members to take part in our hosting and social activities. These include youth members, members with children, and equally as importantly, people with fresh ideas and a positive outlook on Hailsham-Gournay relations.
