The origin of ‘twinning’ is firmly rooted in ‘friendship’. Its key objective is to enable different communities to exchange experience of their history, culture and contemporary lifestyle, thereby forming increased mutual understanding and respect.
We believe strongly in these aims and have formed a solid twinning link with the town of Gournay-en-Bray in France.
The Hailsham & District Twinning Association looks forward to celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the signing of the Twinning Charter between Hailsham and the French town of Gournay-en-Bray later this year! The strength of the association between our two towns has grown over the years and, through such links, we aim to continue organising both individual and group exchanges.
